Photo a day challange -Day 7

September 7, 2010

Aaron is home, Yay! It was a long 6 days but so glad he got the chance to do his snow trip this year ( Even though I did throw a pity party for myself the night he left.)
His trip ended up being a little longer than what we expected due to the flooding that held them captive, but an extra 500km on their trip and he is home to his 4 girls who missed him like crazy.
Aaron had today off, so he walked the girls to school and then we headed down to have breakie at Cafe Ect and a walk with Ellie on the Jetty.

I have learnt I really need to take my camera out more, I need to document our lives more and not be so hung up on getting that perfect portrait for my families everyday life. I want to capture my family, my children as who they are and doing what they do. Sometimes to grasp that crappy lighting and work with it, use it to capture our everyday as it is :D So lesson learnt! Please join me.

For my Awesome Adorable Nerdy Funny Stinky Hilarious Dad xXx

A BUSH CHRISTENING – A.B. “Banjo” Paterson

On the outer Barcoo where the churches are few,
And men of religion are scanty,
On a road never cross’d ‘cept by folk that are lost,
One Michael Magee had a shanty.

Now this Mike was the dad of a ten-year-old lad,
Plump, healthy, and stoutly conditioned;
He was strong as the best, but poor Mike had no rest
For the youngster had never been christened,

And his wife used to cry, “If the darlin’ should die
Saint Peter would not recognise him.”
But by luck he survived till a preacher arrived,
Who agreed straightaway to baptise him.

Now the artful young rogue, while they held their collogue,
With his ear to the keyhole was listenin’,
And he muttered in fright while his features turned white,
“What the divil and all is this christenin’?”

He was none of your dolts, he had seen them brand colts,
And it seemed to his small understanding,
If the man in the frock made him one of the flock,
It must mean something very like branding.

So away with a rush he set off for the bush,
While the tears in his eyelids they glistened-
“‘Tis outrageous,” says he, “to brand youngsters like me,
I’ll be dashed if I’ll stop to be christened!”

Like a young native dog he ran into a log,
And his father with language uncivil,
Never heeding the “praste” cried aloud in his haste,
“Come out and be christened, you divil!”

But he lay there as snug as a bug in a rug,
And his parents in vain might reprove him,
Till his reverence spoke (he was fond of a joke)
“I’ve a notion,” says he, “that’ll move him.”

“Poke a stick up the log, give the spalpeen a prog;
Poke him aisy-don’t hurt him or maim him,
‘Tis not long that he’ll stand, I’ve the water at hand,
As he rushes out this end I’ll name him.

“Here he comes, and for shame! ye’ve forgotten the name-
Is it Patsy or Michael or Dinnis?”
Here the youngster ran out, and the priest gave a shout-
“Take your chance, anyhow, wid ‘Maginnis’!”

As the howling young cub ran away to the scrub
Where he knew that pursuit would be risky,
The priest, as he fled, flung a flask at his head
That was labelled “Maginnis’s Whisky!”

And Maginnis Magee has been made a J.P.,
And the one thing he hates more than sin is
To be asked by the folk who have heard of the joke,
How he came to be christened “Maginnis”!

This dude is why, I am the way I am. The reason Im such a stinker at telling jokes, why I find saying ‘Onions’ bloody funny, why i love the outdoors and know how to build a camp fire, why I get into trouble at footy games, why i talk louder and faster to annoy him, why sometimes i encourage the girls to squeal, why I am me.

Dad, I want to thankyou so much for being the best Dad to the four of us. Thank you for showing us the true beauty of life.

I am so thankful I grabbed the camera this morning while sitting at the breaky table. I never knew it was going to be this wet and horrible. Apparently spring never got the call. So we are stuck till she arrives.

Today has been pretty eventful. Taylee had class assembly where she stood in front of the whole school and talked about her excursion. (I will try and upload the video I took with the Mark ii, just have to figure it out.) She is one funny little miss. It was so easy to get her out of the bed this morning. She would be so happy to sleep all day that kid. But I went it at 7:20am and whispered.. School assembly into her ear and she was UP!

After school assembly Ellie and I travelled to my girlfriends house to get my hair done. The regrowth was starting to offend some people. So now im looking all blonde again and all so natural.
And now its school pickup time, and then Friday night drinky poos begin :D

that is why we have a day 3 image already posted and taken so early haha.. Smart Girl.

Today was a busy one, a total contrast of yesterdays sloth day.
I had three little people arrive at my door at 7:15am to join my three little people for the manic morning rush before school drop off. After the crazy school drop off the two little ladies and i headed off to meet a lovely couple who have just last night hired me for their little ones birth…. Excited much!!!

I had to drag the two little cherubs as this birth is any day now and I like to meet my clients before the day.
We stopped at a gorgeous park in prospect on the way, the girls had so much fun up until it was time to go, Ellie decided the running away from me game was the totally funniest thing to do. That kid!!!

. It was such a cool park with water features and cute little bridges. I have to go back with the big camera. I have a few shots on the iphone that i will upload tomorrow.

On our way home (after the hair pulling the screaming matches and the sining and laughter), my little stinker decided she would stop carrying on and snooze!

My little snoozer. I could’t help but not to run inside and grab the camera.. LOVE!

Its day one of my photo a day and I nearly didn’t make it. I can’t even say it’s been hectic here today.
I have had most of the day to myself. Taylee and Jazz at school and Ellie on her usual Wednesday play date. So the photo opportunity for me earlier was pretty boring. vacuuming, changing bedding, mopping and preparing dinner.
Oh actually i could and should have grabbed a shot of my groceries being delivered. I am new to this and OMG I will never go back to the shops haha.. I even put a bottle of wine on the list. Arrived nice and cold. Bliss. Sad that thats a major highlight of my day.

Here is Day 1

My girls are ALWAYS like this……… Yeah right!

Meet Gorgeous Baby Katie, With her very first breath here on earth captured and being the one to do so is just mind blowing.
One of the greatest Gifts I can have and also give to new parents. Welcome to the world sweet baby girl.

I am always lost for words when someone asks me about birth photography. I can never find the word’s that quite describes the way I feel. I never had any of my girl’s birth photographed professionally. I have some cruddy pictures of Taylee, just after birth that Aaron took, with the old SLR camera that was broken and left horrid lines through images. (Yes Film days… No digital with Taylee) With Jazz everything went so fast and with Aaron helping me, and midwives delivering. And With Ellie, I actually have no idea what went on. I just wanted her birth to HURRY up! I didn’t think to get Aaron on the camera. I was all over the place. He ended up filming (I had no idea) Once again I don’t have those amazing images that truly tells a story in one image. I can’t watch Ellie’s Birth Video. It is so intense! TURN THE SOUND OFF PLEASE!!! lol!! Pictures have the ability to capture all emotion in one frame, tell the entire story in one frame. Whether you Birth your children or adopt. Those first moments when you meet your little one for the very first time, those moments are what Birth Photography is about. The raw emotion, new families, new beginnings. LIFE

It was Just Awesome!! The sun was just starting to warm the day. The cows where fed and next was feeding the lamb! Such a fun session :D
Thankyou Sooooooo very Much Andy and Emma for having Bree and I. We had a ball and can’t wait till we make another trip up.

Well as some of you may know, I was lucky enough to be employed by a lovely group of families to travel to the Yorke Peninsula. I had a blast, and met the most amazing and beautiful people.
Jess, Tim and there two adorable little girls where the BEST start to my trip. So welcoming and ready to have some fun. They had thought of a gorgeous spot just out of the township of Minlaton. It was Gorgeous! The sun was setting fast but gave out the most beautiful light.
Layla was so great with her baby sister Maggie. I even snuck a picture of Layla wispering her a secret. CUTE!

Hope You Enjoy your sneak Peak
